The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has become a member of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). It joins over 100 IATI members including governments, multilaterals, civil society and private sector organizations committed to improving transparency of development and humanitarian resources.

BOAD is a development finance institution, working with member countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.

"BOAD plans to publish data to IATI on its operations including projects and programs as well as policies, strategies, procedures, guidelines and key decisions taken during project development and implementation”

It promotes the balanced development of its member countries and fosters economic integration within West Africa by financing priority development projects. In joining IATI, BOAD affirms that it seeks to strengthen its existing commitment to transparency, which it has implemented through its policy on dissemination and access to information since 2013.

Serge Ekue, President of BOAD said: “BOAD is aware that as a trusted recipient of public and private funds, transparency of operations is a key element for accountability”.

With greater transparency, BOAD believes that stakeholders are able to track the results of its operations and, therefore, help ensure that benefits reach the target populations. BOAD plans to publish data to IATI on its operations including projects and programs as well as policies, strategies, procedures, guidelines and key decisions taken during project development and implementation”.

"We are delighted to welcome BOAD as a member of IATI. Development finance institutions (DFIs) are playing an increasingly important role in sustainable development."

Annelise Parr, IATI Coordinator at UNDP said: “We are delighted to welcome BOAD as a member of IATI. Development finance institutions (DFIs) are playing an increasingly important role in sustainable development. By publishing data on their resource flows openly in IATI, BOAD will be helping ensure that governments and development organizations have the information they need to collaborate most effectively.

“We look forward to BOAD becoming an active partner in our initiative and representing the open data needs of its constituents”.
