Reimagining Data Quality consultation: Third phase launched

  • Oct. 23, 2026

The third phase of IATI's Reimagining Data Quality consultation is now open. Share your feedback on the draft Data Quality Framework by 17 November 2026.

A new IATI Data Quality Framework is being developed to measure the quality of data published to IATI. It aims to help organisations identify areas for improvement and make their data more useful to those who rely on it.

The third phase of the Reimagining Data Quality consultation provides an opportunity to help shape how the quality of IATI data will be measured.

About the consultation

Building on two earlier consultation phases, a draft IATI Data Quality Framework proposes assessing data quality across four dimensions: Availability, Timeliness, Coverage and Comprehensiveness.

The framework also introduces a system of ratings and provides information on where data improvements are needed.

The framework has been informed by consultations with partner country governments, development partners and other data users, who highlighted the need for a simpler, more accessible view of IATI data quality.

This latest consultation focuses on refining the proposed indicators and rating thresholds. Feedback will help ensure that the framework is meaningful, appropriately ambitious and reflects the needs of both data publishers and users.

A new approach to data quality: the IATI Dashboard

The draft IATI Data Quality Framework will underpin a new Dashboard, currently under development and planned for public launch in Q2 2027. Building on 15 years of IATI tools and services, the Dashboard aims to bring together existing assessments from Publishing Statistics, the IATI Validator, Country Development Finance Data and the Unified Platform, alongside new indicators.

Once launched, the Dashboard will provide automated daily assessments for all IATI publishers, helping more than 2,000 organisations monitor their data quality and identify areas for improvement. This approach is intended to complement other independent assessments of IATI data.

What happens next?

Feedback received during this phase will help finalise the Data Quality Framework, including its indicators, thresholds and weightings.

The framework will underpin the new IATI Data Quality Dashboard, which is planned for public launch in Q2 2027. Once launched, the new Dashboard will replace the existing Publishing Statistics Dashboard.

Please review the draft framework and share your feedback by 17 November 2026.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the consultation so far. Your feedback will help shape a framework that supports better quality, more useful IATI data.
