New COVID-19 data visualisation tool uses IATI data

  • June 5, 2020

The World Bank Group and Dutch government have launched a tool to provide data on international funds responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new covid19.humportal provides data published by development and humanitarian organisations to both IATI and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ Financial Tracking Service (FTS). The tool was created by Development Initiatives on behalf of the Grand Bargain Transparency workstream, which is co-convened by the World Bank Group and the Netherlands. The workstream launched the tool to react quickly to demands for increased aid transparency during the pandemic.

Users of the tool can find FTS data on funding against UN OCHA’s COVID-19 Global Humanitarian Response Plan and IATI data on individual activities in affected countries. By using covid19.humportal, users can view how organisations are disbursing funding to their implementing partners.

IATI encourages all organisations who are involved in the international effort to address the COVID-19 pandemic to publish data on all their spending and activities. To date, over 50 organisations have published IATI data relating to COVID-19. To provide feedback on covid19.humportal, contact Development Initiatives by emailing [email protected].
