IATI data to be integrated into Nepal's Aid Management Information System

The Government of Nepal is set to make a significant improvement to their Aid Management Information System (AMIS) by integrating IATI data. This integration will allow for easy access and importation of IATI data on development and humanitarian flows from Nepal's development partners into the system, complementing the data collected at the country level.

The Effective Development Financing and Coordination II (EDFC-II) project, a four-year initiative funded the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and UNDP, is supporting the Ministry of Finance in upgrading the AMIS, which is also expected to integrate data from various government systems and budgeting applications, to capture a wider range of development finance flows more efficiently and accurately.

Last year, representatives from Nepal participated in IATI’s Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop in November, where they learned about the value of IATI data in supporting better planning, budgeting, and coordination of development cooperation resources.

UNDP recently announced the plans for upgrading the Government of Nepal's AMIS. In their press release, Mr. Narayan Dhakal, Under Secretary of the International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division at the Ministry of Finance, said:

It is a great privilege to be involved in this initiative to enhance transparency and accountability here in Nepal

"It is a great privilege to be involved in this initiative to enhance transparency and accountability here in Nepal. Upgrading the Aid Information Management System represents an important step towards promoting greater development effectiveness and improving development outcomes in the country. By fostering an environment that encourages transparency and accountability in the allocation of development assistance, we can lay a stronger foundation for the effective and efficient implementation of development projects in Nepal."
