Third-party tools and services for data use
IATI data can be used in different ways for many purposes. Apart from IATI, numerous other organisations and companies provide tools to help you use the data.
Because IATI data is open source anyone can freely use the data and create tools and services to help others use it.
A growing number of third parties, external to the IATI technical team, are creating data use tools. Many tools provided for IATI data can be used with no specialist expertise while others are intended for software developers and need technical knowledge to set up or use.
Some tools let you see the global data or all data from one country or donor. These can include:
- Global aid portals, such as:
- Country portals, for example:
- Myanmar - Mohinga is an aid transparency portal which tracks international assistance to Myanmar
- Donor portals, such as
- African Development Bank - Data Portal
- Netherland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs - METIS
There are also tools that focus on specific themes or topics within the international development and humanitarian aid sectors - an example is AidHedge which lets you see how aid projects are affected by changes in currency rates. If you need help with any third-party tool, contact the tool provider for advice.
