We encourage IATI publishers to continually improve the quality and coverage of their data to make it as useful as possible to others.

Use the tools below to check your IATI data and identify areas for improvement:

• IATI Validator - provides detailed, line-by-line feedback on validation errors in your data files, helping you fix technical issues.
• IATI Dashboard - helps you assess and improve the timeliness, completeness, and overall coverage of your published data.

Using IATI identifiers in your data

Organisation References

These references uniquely identify the organisations involved in delivering development and humanitarian work.

There is no global master list of all possible organisation references, but the following resources can help you find an existing one:

• IATI Registry - publisher list - search for organisations that already publish IATI data.
• Organisation ID Finder (external tool) - search for known organisation identifiers across various databases.

If you can’t find an existing identifier, use Org-ID guide to determine the most appropriate identifier format.

Activity Identifiers

Activity identifiers help link data between funders and implementing partners. This makes it possible to trace the flow of funds through the delivery chain.

If your funder has asked you to reference their activity, request the correct activity identifier directly from them.

Alternatively, you can search for relevant activities using these steps

1. Go to d-portal.org
2. Enter the organisation name in the search bar (below the filter options)
3. Click ‘Explore Results’
4. Choose ‘Total Projects’ to see all activities that the organisation is mentioned in, or ‘IATI Reporting Organisations’ to see which organisations have published this information

You can also use the Activity ID Checker to verify if an identifier is valid and view details about the activity.
