Government of Senegal becomes member of IATI

  • 13 décembre 2024

IATI is delighted to welcome the Government of Senegal as a new member of the International Aid Transparency Initiative, bringing membership to a total of 105. By joining as a member, Senegal is signalling its commitment to advancing the transparency, effectiveness and accountability of development and humanitarian resources.

The Government of Senegal has become part of a diverse global network – including partner governments, donor governments, multilateral institutions, NGOs and private sector organisations – working to ensure that data on resource flows is open, accessible, and used to drive decisions that can deliver greater impact.

“We are proud to welcome Senegal as a member, and look forward to working closely with the government as they support IATI’s mission to turn data into impact” – Yemesrach Workie, Executive Director of IATI

In 2018, the Senegalese government used IATI data to improve its government aid management platforms, adding information on USD 200 million in donor commitments, and almost the same amount in disbursements. This demonstrates the power of open, accessible data to improve the coordination and effectiveness of development resources. By becoming a member, the Government of Senegal is continuing to ensure that resources can deliver the greatest impact for communities across the country.

Yemescrach Workie, Executive Director of IATI, said “the Government of Senegal’s decision to join IATI as a member is a powerful statement of their commitment to transparent and accountable aid and development. We are proud to welcome Senegal as a member, and look forward to working closely with the government as they support IATI’s mission to turn data into impact”.
