The OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) has made a valuable commitment to increase the transparency, consistency and quality of aid data at its High Level Meeting in Paris (30-31 October 2017). This was reflected in the Communiqué, excerpted below:
“Transparency is fundamental to aid effectiveness and accountability and to improving public trust. We will continue our transparency efforts to improve the consistency and quality of publicly available aid data including through the DAC’s Creditor Reporting System and Forward Spending Survey. Efforts to increase the transparency and complementarity of aid data accessible to citizens will benefit from collaboration with the International Aid Transparency Initiative.”
The commitment reinforces messages by DAC Chair Charlotte Petri Gornitzka when she addressed IATI members at their annual Members’ Assembly last month, and emphasises the importance of working closely with IATI to achieve these ends.
