This post provides early notice of next steps to integrate the IATI Datastore into IATI’s new unified single platform, as part of our roadmap for the implementation of IATI’s Technical Stocktake 2020 recommendations.
Transitioning to IATI’s new unified single platform
IATI’s Secretariat is continuing work to transform its siloed set of technical tools and products to a single, integrated system architecture. As part of this work, the Secretariat will begin work to bring the Datastore in-house, including it within IATI’s unified single platform. A Datastore API will be included in IATI’s new API Gateway to offer technical users a single point of access for IATI’s API data services.
This integration work will commence over the quieter summer months and is due to be completed before the end of the year. This work may result in period(s) of downtime, in which case users will be supported to use other tools to access IATI data.
Supporting data users during transition
IATI’s Governing Board and Secretariat thank the Datastore’s external supplier, Zimmerman, for building and hosting the existing IATI Datastore and working closely with IATI’s Secretariat, Community and data users to undertake the initial development of the tool.
IATI’s Secretariat will work hard to minimise the amount of downtime that Datastore users experience, and will work with Zimmerman to communicate early information about if or when downtime is likely to occur. To ensure disruption is kept to a minimum, we will work with external providers to support users to make use of alternative tools. In addition, IATI’s Helpdesk will offer direct support to users to access IATI data, via 1-1 sessions as required, and during regular monthly Data Use drop in sessions.
Keep updated with developments
The IATI Secretariat will keep IATI’s Community updated on developments of this project as it progresses. Please continue to refer to IATI’s website and for any questions email IATI’s Helpdesk: [email protected].
