Publish What You Fund’s Aid Transparency Index (ATI) 2018 has been launched and was presented today at the Brookings Institute in Washington DC. The Index measures development organisations’ commitment to aid transparency and the publication of aid information.
The Asian Development Bank tops the Index for the first time, with UNDP ranking second and the UK Department for International Development coming third.
As part of the assessment, Publish What You Fund has reviewed the performance of 45 organisations. The ATI uses data spanning 36 different indicators to assess development organisations’ commitment to aid transparency and publication of aid information.
The new report states there has been an improvement in the availability of aid data, with 93% of the Index’s organisations now publishing to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) Standard. Half of the donors were found to be publishing their data on a monthly basis, increasing from just a quarter of donors in 2016.
