Held during CAF’s Board meeting at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, the launch brought together senior representatives, experts and partners.
Representing IATI was Georgiana Braga-Orillard, UNDP Resident Representative in Chile, attending on behalf of the IATI Secretariat, which is hosted by UNDP. The IATI Secretariat has supported CAF throughout its journey to publish high-quality, accessible development data.
Watch Georgiana Braga-Orillard, UNDP Resident Representative in Chile discussing IATI at the CAF Transparency Report launch event:
CAF began publishing IATI data on their financing in 2024, sharing over 150 development activities across 14 countries, totalling more than USD 5 billion. Using the IATI Standard, CAF is helping ensure that information on its activities is open, comparable and easy to access – enabling stronger coordination, better outcomes, and greater trust across the region.
Report presentation and panel discussion
The report was presented by CAF’s Secretary General, Alejandra Claros Borda, followed by a panel discussion on "Transparency as a pillar of development and growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.” The discussion brought together transparency experts, including Sally Paxton at Publish What You Fund to exchange perspectives on open data, accountability and citizen engagement. CAF’s Executive President, Sergio Díaz-Granados Guida, delivered closing remarks.
About the report
CAF’s Transparency Report offers an overview of the bank’s progress in promoting institutional transparency. It details their actions to improve public access to documents, expand engagement channels with citizens and stakeholders, and open new avenues for collaboration – particularly with subnational governments, the private sector, and on climate-related initiatives.
The publication of CAF’s first Transparency Report follows the bank’s Access to Information and Institutional Transparency Program, launched in 2023. This programme laid the groundwork for CAF’s IATI publication, bringing together teams from across the institution – including IT, communications, operations and risk – to build internal capacity and ensure sustainability.
Through its partnership with IATI, CAF is demonstrating how transparency and cooperation can accelerate sustainable development across Latin America and the Caribbean.
