The European Commission (EC) has launched EU Aid Explorer, an online portal to provide public access to information about EU aid programmes.
EU Aid Explorer provides a single point of access to all IATI data published by EU donors on their funding of development and humanitarian projects across the world. The portal includes information since 2007 from major donors such as the European Commission, the EU Trust Funds, the European Investment Bank and all 28 EU Member States.
The EU and its Member States together form the largest provider of Official Development Assistance (ODA) in the world. Data on ODA reported to the OECD Development Assistance Committee can also be accessed through the EU Aid Explorer.
The European Commission encourages development practitioners, partner countries, media, academia and the general public to use the data to improve the effectiveness of EU aid.
"I am convinced that easy access to reliable aid data is essential. Not only is it a guarantee of transparency and accountability – it also helps partner countries in their planning processes and the EU itself in working better together to achieve the sustainable development goals."
The European Commission’s Director-General for International Cooperation and Development Stefano Manservisi said: "I am convinced that easy access to reliable aid data is essential. Not only is it a guarantee of transparency and accountability – it also helps partner countries in their planning processes and the EU itself in working better together to achieve the sustainable development goals."
The Commission launched the EU Aid Explorer as part of their commitment to enhance transparency and accountability, as set out in the new European Consensus on Development. This consensus places poverty eradication as a primary objective of the EU’s development policy and aligns it with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
