WEBINAR 1 State of the Data: Timeliness
Join us for two interactive dialogues exploring timely data in IATI.
Join the third State of the Data dialogues to explore new analysis from the IATI Secretariat, examining the timeliness of IATI data and investigating how we currently measure and understand how often organisations update their IATI activities.
About the Analysis
The analysis will explore questions such as:
- What can tools like the IATI Dashboard and IATI Validator reveal to us?
- What are the common publishing practices that help us understand which IATI activities are current?
- What further information can we learn about the timeliness of IATI data?
The IATI Secretariat will present the findings from this analysis and explore how the organisations that publish IATI data can improve their IATI data.
Why Timely Data Matters
Through the IATI Standard, organisations can publish updates about their finances and the delivery of their activities when new information is available. This enables a more current picture of development and humanitarian resources compared to other report systems, which, for example, collect and publish data annually.
Having access to timely data can enhance the delivery of aid in a range of ways, including:
- Governments use IATI data to track aid into their countries to inform decisions about the future, including in budgets and national planning (see 19 governments rely on IATI data for decision-making)
- Humanitarian Crises: Up-to-date information helps map which organisations and resources are in place to respond to crises. For example, the Global Alliance for Food Security (GAFS) uses IATI data to inform crisis preparedness plans across 25 countries.
- Understand Trends: Timely data enables more analysis on funding trends across sectors and thematic policy areas. For instance, UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring (Report) Team and Education Cannot Wait have used IATI data to reveal recent shifts in education aid flows.

State of the Data Dialogues: Why Timely Data Matters

π Webinar 1: Tuesday 4th November 9 - 10:30am EST | 2 - 3:30pm UTC
The IATI Secretariat will present new interactive analysis on trends in the timeliness of IATI data and organisational reporting behaviours.
π Webinar 2: Tuesday 11th November 9 - 10:30am EST | 2 - 3:30pm UTC
The second webinar will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including country governments and publishers such as bilateral and multilateral organisations. We will explore what drives organisations to publish timely data and which levers could encourage more frequent, reliable updates.
Together weβll discuss:
π‘ Why timely data is critical for transparency and accountability.
π‘ What barriers prevent regular updates, and how to address them.
π‘ How tools like the IATI Dashboard can help monitor timeliness.
π‘ What opportunities there are for the community to improve update frequency and consistency.
