UNGA 80: Transparency 2030 Roundtable

IATI will host a high-level roundtable on the role of open data and transparency in strengthening trust and effectiveness in international cooperation, during the 80th UN General Assembly in New York.

The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) will host a high-level partners’ roundtable during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA80). The event will bring together governments, international organisations, civil society and partners to discuss how open data can strengthen trust, accountability and effectiveness across the international development system.

Concept Note

Purpose of the session

During UNGA, IATI will convene partners and champions to spotlight this exciting new direction, generate high-level visibility, and expand the coalition of actors backing IATI’s mission.

This informal roundtable, will be a space to:

  • Discuss the role of transparency and open data in the development system
  • Share IATI’s new Strategic Directions 2026–2030 and highlight the transformative opportunities they create.
  • Secure political and financial support from governments, foundations, and multilateral institutions.
  • Broaden IATI’s base of champions across the UN, civil society, and private sector.
  • Build momentum ahead of the formal launch of the strategy in January 2026.
